What you need

— Aeropress

— Ground Control Coffee

— Grinder

— Scale

— Kettle

HOW TO MAKE IT:

1. PREPARE EQUIPMENT

Start by bringing water to a boil in your kettle and placing the Aeropress inverted on top of your scale, with the rubber stopper sitting slightly below the 4th marker. Place the paper filter into the circular base of the Aeropress, rinse water through it to get rid of any paper taste, and put it aside. It is also a good idea to season your cup/serving vessel by pouring hot water into it and letting it sit.

2. GRIND YOUR BEANS

The Aeropress calls for 14g of medium-finely ground coffee; this should be courser than espresso grind, yet finer than pour over grind. Once ground, place the coffee into the chamber of the inverted Aeropress and tare scales to zero.

3. ADD WATER

Water should be at a temperature between 92°-97° Celsius; if your kettle isn’t temperature controlled, bring water to a boil and let it sit for 1-2 minutes. Slowly pour 220ml (g) of water into the chamber of the Aeropress; if you don’t have a scale, this is roughly just below the top of the chamber.

4. STIR & BREW

Gently stir the coffee to disperse it within the water, then take your rinsed circular base and attach it to the Aeropress. Let brew for 2 minutes.

5. SERVE & ENJOY

Expel the hot water from your cup/serving vessel, and carefully place it upside down on top of your inverted Aeropress. Slowly flip the equipment so the cup/serving vessel is at the bottom, and the Aeropress is at the top. Begin to press down on the Aeropress and push the water through the paper filter; this process should require some pressure and take approximately 30 seconds. Enjoy your beverage!
